VOLUNTEER WITH COMMUNIGROW

Become a volunteer and enjoy a rewarding activity while meeting people, gaining skills, looking after the environment and giving back to the community. We welcome volunteers all year round keen to support growing activities at the field or help us to run the charity.

A Message from Sue Sutton , Volunteer

“I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy volunteering at the communigrow field. For me the benefits are having the chance to be outside when most of my week is spent commuting and being inside.  I enjoy the fresh air and the exercise, more importantly it gives me an opportunity to work quietly and gain some much needed “head space”.

“I have met lovely people and I am learning new things all the time including discovering vegetables I have never heard of.  Which is handy being a vegetarian. Lots of new food to try!

It’s especially nice to be able to give something back to the community.

Volunteer Quotes

“My experience volunteering with Communigrow has been brilliant so far. I’ve only been 4 mornings and it’s been different every time. One day was heavy rain and gusty winds and the next gorgeous sunshine so therapeutic and refreshing. I’ve met some really genuine people. It’s a beautiful tranquil spot to be in.”

“We value volunteering with Communigrow, and it is so good for my husband’s mental health. Everyone is so caring, helpful and understanding there. We are so grateful for the support we have had from the team. It makes such a huge difference when times are difficult.”

“I have been volunteering for 2.5 months so still early days but I certainly enjoy working with different volunteers and enjoy discussing recipes and experiences. I look forward to my days at the field and particularly enjoy working together on mini projects for the next season.”

“Volunteering with Communigrow has met my expectations. It allowed me to focus on tasks and activities I enjoy the most. In my opinion the experience at Communigrow will help me to build up my self confidence again and support my future career. Thanks to the volunteering I have started additional courses to expand my skillset and build up my experience in the field I enjoy. An additional bonus of the volunteering is the fact that I have met many friendly volunteers and felt a sense of belonging.”

“I have been exploring the subject of sustainable growing myself prior to volunteering but I find it great to meet like-minded people at the field. During those uncertain times we currently live in, I found volunteering at Communigrow very helpful. As someone coming from a busy office environment, working over 40 hours a week, first few weeks of furlough were extremely difficult to me. Volunteering at Communigrow provided me with a structure to my week and helped to find my focus again. No task is too small, there is always something to do at the field and there is great sense of achievement at the end of the day.”

“Having self taught to heal my gut health and learning about health and nutrition, it was important for me to find somewhere where I could learn more about how produce can be grown without the need of chemicals. Every week I learn more and more, the team are so helpful and fun. I am so grateful to have found Communigrow and watching it grow from strength to strength and the positive impact it has on your mind, body and soul. Being part of this community is the best therapy you can do for yourself.”
