Discounted block booking Plant, Grow, Learn Home Ed ages 6-11 (7 sessions)

These hands-on sessions at our sustainable food education charity in East Malling, Kent, give children the opportunity to grow, harvest and cook seasonal vegetables, support wildlife and care for our planet, with tutors who have achieved Carbon Literacy certification.
This ticket is for a block booking of 7 sessions this term starting on Tuesday 28th October and continuing to 9th December.

Programme of learning:
28/10 Fantastic Fruit – What is a fruit? Why do they taste so good? What role do they play in the ecosystem?
4/11 Practical – It might be getting colder but there are still lots of jobs to do in the autumn garden including making leaf mould.
11/11 Helpful Hedges – Explore the hedges at Communigrow, identify species, find out who lives here, and how we can support them over winter.
18/11 Practical – Help us get the garden ready for winter.
25/11 Nocturnal Animals – Learn how to spot signs of these secretive creatures and find out how they are adapted to life in the dark.
2/12 Cook Up a Feast! – Harvest and prepare seasonal veg for a winter feast.
9/12 Winter Celebration – Create an evergreen decoration, decorate a tree for the birds and enjoy a hot chocolate around the fire.
Designed to inspire young people to get outside and active with focused activities to engage and inspire them to learn more about the natural world.
The Field School at Communigrow is a relaxed outdoor setting where young people can be themselves.
Experienced tutors and absorbing activities mean that everyone, including those with anxiety or sensory needs, feels comfortable.
Whilst acquiring valuable practical skills, learners grow in confidence and experience the mental health benefits that come with spending time in nature.
Registration at 9.20 am, session runs 9.30am – 10.45am
Good to know:
- These sessions are for children aged 6-11. Please book a ticket per participant.
- Our 6-11 years session is ideal for older primary children and our 4-11 years session is ideal for families with children of different ages who enjoy learning together.
- Booking is essential.
- Compost toilet and hand washing facilities available on site
- Free parking is available.
